My Skin Routine | No Nasties!

Luck or No Luck?

I’ve always been lucky in terms of having pretty good skin (touch wood). When I was younger until around six years old I had severe eczema and was in and out of the hospital and then it just suddenly disappeared. We’ll never know if it was the faith healer I saw, or being stuck in a hospital with a broken leg for six weeks and the promise of getting my ears pierced was enough for me to be determined not to scratch. Occasionally I’ll get the odd dry patch here and there, but it’s not something I struggle with daily. If it’s ‘that time of the month’ I may get a few pimples, but it’s not an issue.

When I was at school I never used any of the chemical-based cleansers or face washes as the other girls did. I’m sure because of this my skin thanked me. It was so ironic. The more cleansers and toners they seemed to use, the worse their skin would get and then they would add more to their morning facial routine.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Did you know… EWG found that 75% of products containing the word ‘FRAGRANCE’ on their ingredient list contained hormone-disrupting chemicals known as phthalates? Do you know what you’re putting on your skin?

It wasn’t until I hit around 24 that I suddenly concluded that I should probably start looking after my skin. This included taking off my make-up (not that I wear it often), washing my face and using some sort of moisturiser. As I hadn’t used anything before I wanted to be sure that I wasn’t going to fall into the trap of adding chemicals to my skin and leaving it needing more!

My Skin Routine

It was around the same time I started Ethically So. that I also became interested in looking after my skin which kind of aligned perfectly. It gave me the opportunity to trial and test products for the website and only choose to sell ones that I trusted and loved.

Products I use regularly:

All of the below products are Vegan + Cruelty-Free

They are made with Natural Organic ingredients/materials

What is Right For Me?

I’m sure you’re aware, everybody's skin is different. That’s why it’s important to read the ingredients and properties of the products before using them. Do samples tests to make sure your skin does not react in a negative away. If you suffer from eczema there is a possibility your skin may react to Beeswax or Lavender.
