Our Positive Impact | September 2021

Our Positive Impact

For the past 15 months, we have been planting trees all around the world. To date we have planted 306, this is going to massively grow when our PLEDGE ME ends as many of our rewards for this were to plant trees.

This month our trees were planted as part of the ‘Reforestation projects in Mozambique’

“Mozambique is located on the Eastern coast of Africa, with 2,500 kilometres of Indian Ocean coastline facing toward Madagascar.

Around 68% of the 31 million population of Mozambique live in its vast rural areas, and its population is relatively young – with around 66% of the country under the age of 24. Historically home to vast mangrove estuaries and forests, Mozambique’s forests have been largely decimated and destroyed due to intensive tree-cutting for firewood and charcoal.

In recent years, parts of Northern Mozambique have suffered from ongoing extremist threats. Conflict and unrest cause displacement to thousands of local Mozambican people. These ongoing conflicts also exacerbate existing development challenges such as providing access to education and healthcare. The population’s reliance on subsistence agriculture as a result of these challenges causes further environmental degradation.”

Eden Projects

The Mozambique Project is run by The Eden Project

The Eden Projects mission is to offer fair employment to their workers and people living in these communities they are working within. They aim for the global restoration of our forests and land.

Their vision is to create livelihoods for millions of people in extreme poverty. They focus on empowering them to restore and protect large forests.

Plant trees | Save lives

Eden aims to reduce extreme poverty and restore healthy forests by employing local people to plant millions of trees every year. Learn more about the work being done and how you can help.
