Reducing Your Bathroom Waste

Reducing Bathroom Waste - Where to Begin?

Let’s start with the smallest room of the house! Most likely you are reading this blog post because you’re wanting to find ways you can reduce your bathroom waste.

When I first started aiming to live a low-waste life I started with the bathroom. Simply because it was the smallest room in the house, and the whole idea of cutting down on plastic seemed somewhat overwhelming at first, especially when I was seeing it every which way I looked. I actually found the bathroom pretty easy, which then gave me the confidence to move on to bigger aspects of my life.

So where do I begin?

Here are a few ways your can cut down on your bathroom waste:

  • Organise a project box - use what you have first

  • Reducing bathroom waste

  • Learn how to make your own cleaning products

  • Learn to make your own bathroom essentials

Organising a project box is probably one of my favourite ways to start

Organise A 'Project Box'

What is this you may be wondering. Where it's simply where you get an empty box and put 10 beauty/bathroom products in it and focus on using and finishing them up until you can see the bottom.

I don't know about you, but I know for me I used to end up with so so many bottles with a little bit left in the bottom. This is the perfect opportunity to clean out these half empty plastic bottles and make some more space in your bathroom cupboards!

Other Ways to Reduce your Bathroom Waste

Of course you first of all need to use up what you’ve got. There is no point throwing away bottles just because you’ve decided you can’t stand to see plastic in your bathroom anymore. Slowly but surly as you use bottles and products up you can start swtiching them out for more eco friendly and maybe even ethical options.

My switches:

  • Toothpaste

  • Toothbrush

  • Dental Floss

  • Makeup remover pads

  • Face oil

  • Shampoo & Conditioner Bars

  • Body Wash Bars

  • Eco Tan Water

  • Mascara

  • Highlighter + Bronzer

  • Eyeliner (back to pensil)

  • Mestrual cup

  • Period pants

  • Mouthwash (make your own)

  • Deodorant

  • Cottonbuds

  • Lip Balm

  • Nail varnish

The easiest way for you to do this is to checkout our Bathroom & Beauty collection and make changes as you go!
