Sustainable Life Style Essentials. Product Choice Time

Sustainable Life Style Essentials. Product Choice Time

The Start

When I first became aware that things in my life needed to change I started rather slowly. It was quite easy, as I had been travelling for three years. So when I finally settled in Melbourne I actually didn’t have that many possessions which meant I have the opportunity to start all over again.

I started one room at a time (bathroom essentials were first) and took it product by product to find search for the most sustainable goods I could find. Obviously as with everything, there were some products that I loved, and some that I didn't love quite so much. It was the perfect experiment for me to find what worked.

Love, Love, Love

When starting Ethically So. I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t just sharing any old products. I wanted to focus on sharing with you products that I actually love and use myself. It took me quite a lot of time to find what worked for me, and so I wanted to make it easier for you guys and take you straight to the goods.

Which is why I decided to start by focusing on 10 brands only for the launch of Ethically So. This was pretty hard, as obviously I’ve become pretty fond of so many different sustainable goods since learning more about the way we are effecting the environment. My main focus was on product quality, and so I knew it was essential not to spread myself to thin and focus on one thing at a time.

The Goods

So after going back and forth with different companies and finding out what packaging they use, if they had minimum order quantities (MOQ), how much postage was, and what their aim was, I finally managed to pick 10 companies I wanted to work with.

Maxwell & McIntyre - Natural Toothpaste (Waste Free)

Hello Cups - Moon Cup for a waste free Period (Reusable)

Fair + Square - Hand Made Shampoo/Face Scrub/Body Wash (Plastic Free)

SustainaBLAH - Reusable Razors + Make up Pads (Zero-Waste)

B.Bold - Natural Deodorant in a jar (Made in NZ)

Raw Nature - Plastic Free sticks for any occasions (Natural)

Kind Bottles - Ethically So. bottles for keeping your drinks fresh (Say no to single use)

Meals in Steel - Stainless Steal Lunch Boxes for On The Go (Re-Use)

Little Bit Daily - Eco soap dish for your sustainable bathroom (Up-cycled)

Kappi - Fabric bags and silicone zip lock bags. Everything you need for the road (Low-Waste)

Today!

Today our focus is similar to what it was when we started out. We aim to support local, small, New Zealand businesses, educate others and make low-waste living easy. We are aware that KIND CONSUMPTION is KEY! Which is why we provide you lovely people with everyday essentials.

As I sit here and write this, we are currently going into lock down in New Zealand as we have hit level 4 emergency for COVID-19. In less than 2 hours lock down will be activated for a minimum of four weeks. Life as we know it will completely change. I’m hoping that throughout this experience, we will bring something out of it that is positive. I hope that we all learn to slow down slightly and enjoy the positive effects it has on the environment. I hope we can refocus and and come out of this realising what is important in life. Already the the emissions over China have reduced significantly, and wildlife is taking over the streets of Europe in full effect.

It will be a tough time for the whole world, we just need to remember we are all in this together. For now our online doors are open, as we truly believe that it is more beneficial for people to buy low waste products through us, rather than going into the supermarkets right now

Stay Safe and we will see you all on the other side.

Love Annie
