About Akaia Blends 🌱

Hey, I'm Mikaela, founder at Akaia Blends. I grew up with sensitive, allergy and eczema prone skin. So using gentle and non-irritating products has always been important to me.

A few years ago, I found myself looking for new skincare. I felt lost. I was trying to understand Ingredient lists, but it just went over my head. Some websites didn't even display the full ingredient lists at all! I struggled to make informed decisions about products. After that, I knew there needed to be a better way to decode the jargon.

I learnt about Ingredients, which lead me to learn how to formulate skincare. I purchased natural ingredients and some basic lab equipment. I subscribed to a skincare formulator on Patreon. I collected resources from The School of Natural Skincare and Formula Botanica. Trying to teach myself. I then started to use my own formulations on myself. I felt a huge peace of mind knowing what was going in and what I was leaving out. Not to mention my skin ended up LOVING what I was using!
